Besides filtration, medical, screen printing, conveyor belts, spacer fabrics and automotive, monofilaments may be used in a number of different applications. Here following are some if the most common applications other than the ones described in depth by the several sheets in this brochure.
RIBBONS: diameter range 0,048 - 0,150 mm Ribbons are used in several fields, they may be decorative ribbons and trimmings, or curtain and tapestry reinforcement. In any case the most used material is ESTENE®, PET monofilament.
ELASTIC BANDS: diameter range 0,18 - 0,20 mm Bandages, corsets and girdles usually require the use of SIDLION® 6 or SIDLION® 6.6, PA 6 or 6.6, in the weft of their fabrics.
LABELS: diameter range 0,048-0,055 mm Another common use for such fine counts of ESTENE®, PET monofilament is for the warp of woven labels. These labels are mainly for the apparel industry.
CARPETS AND RUGS: diameter range 0,20 - 0,35 mm Monofilaments are used as base and to hold the edges of carpets and rugs. For this application SIDLION® 6.6, 100% PA 6.6 monofilament, is suggested.
HAIR: diameter range 0,060 - 0,090 mm Fake hair is used in the production of wigs, hairpieces, dyed hair locks for beauty salons, hair-dye producers and hair extensions. For all these applications the most used yarn is SIDLION® 6, PA 6 monofilament, and occasionally it may be SIDLION® 6.6, PA 6.6 monofilament. It is usually supplied in a natural shade and wound on dyeing cops.
HOOK & LOOP SYSTEMS: count range 328 - 401 dTex Cross shaped section CRINLENE® , PP monofilament is used mostly for the ''mushroom'' type. For other hook & loop systems the most commonly used yarn is SIDLION® 6.6, 100% PA 6.6 monofilament, in the 0,20 mm diameter.
APPAREL LININGS: diameter range 0,15 - 0,22 mm Very often coats, jackets, blazers and suits will have reinforced or lined parts such as waistlines, shoulders, collars and lapels. These reinforcements are made with ESTENE®, 100% PET monofilament, or SIDLION® 6.6, 100% PA 6.6 monofilament.
PERSCRIPTION GLASSES FRAMES: count range 2238 - 5700 dTex Modern glass frames often require the help of monofilament to hold up the lenses. The material used for this application normally is SIDLION® 6, 100% PA 6 monofilament, with several cross-section shapes.
